NGV India Summit is a very good platform where we got the chance to meet all the stakeholders particularly OEMs, the CGD operators and very importantly start-ups who were amongst the many who attended this conference. This has been a great change I have seen and very useful for us CGD operators.

NGV India Summit has been able to get together the stakeholders from the larger ecosystem and not just NGV but also from the automotive ecosystem such as players who are dealing in Hydrogen and Electric.

NGV India is one such conference which actually brought the key stakeholders on one platform and the entire Messe Frankfurt team has created a big event out of this conference where we met all the OEMs, policymakers and agencies who are implementing large projects.

NGVs really have good potential to expand, and scale will go up. We have, of course, electric vehicles coming, which will also play a role. So all of this will have a place in the emerging scenario. So natural gas, LNG, and electricity—all three—will find their place in the transport sector. And I am very hopeful that all three will be there, at least for the next 20–30 years. And India has a good future in that regard. But looking at India’s growth, there is huge potential for growth in these current volumes.

The seminar was fully focused on NGV’s as well as the session on hydrogen. As far as H2 is concerned, I feel that H2 will be the first priority for the country and for the transportation sector. In this direction, the Ministry of Petroleum is already taking some initiatives, and they are putting up orders for electrolyzers where the green H2 will be produced.

Natural Gas: On one hand, the CNG network continues to expand, making the fuel more accessible. India aiming to invest $4.95 billion in natural gas pipeline infrastructure in north-eastern states and northern federal territories and planning to increase natural gas share to 15% by 2030. The spread of CNG stations across the country has risen to 3343 stations as of April 30, 2021, targeted to expand to 10,000 stations by 2030. At the same time, the Indian government is focusing on strengthening the LNG infrastructure to enable 1 lakh LNG buses / tucks this year.
NGV India Summit since 2016, has been the premiere leadership forum charting India’s transition towards sustainable mobility and transportation driven by an expanding portfolio of cleaner alternative fuels. While Natural Gas (CNG) has been the earliest and most significant player in this domain, subsequent developments in technology have seen the advent of LNG and a host of alternate mobility fuels emerging on the horizon, poised to contribute significantly in lowering of greenhouse gas emissions. Today, Ethanol blended flex fuel, green/blue Hydrogen – with both Fuel Cell and H2ICE applications, Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) and Biodiesel are some of the major players in this new order, each presenting a lucrative market opportunity to the industry, while also having the robust backing of resolute policy push from the Government and various PLI schemes.
The expert talk series on alternative energies
To achieve the European climate targets, CO2 emissions in the transport sector must also be significantly reduced. Alternative fuels can make an important contribution to this. Whether hydrogen, electricity, biofuels or synthetically produced fuels - Messe Frankfurt's new expert talk series "Energy 4 Mobility" will focus on the alternative energies that will power our vehicles in the future.
